Someone get a graphic designer, stat!

The title of this post was my first reaction to the logo for the 2012 London Olympics. I'm so glad it comes in different colors, as if that will make it any better. Yea, yea, I realize it is some sort of neo-futuristic font that says "2012", but if this is a vision of the future, I think a postmodern breakdown in communication is going to be inevitable.

I'm quite fond of the British, but what the hell are the people in charge thinking (especially considering they paid 400,000 pounds for the crappy thing)???

EDIT: BBC News website readers have sent in some alternatives to the new logo, some are not bad.
5/6: And even more BBC reader submissions

My first reaction was, "what the hell is that?" Looked like some abstract stick man or something.

I could have given them 10 different designs for 1/10 the price. No wonder Olympic cities never make any money.

The logo of London Olympics is...nonsense. However, its not the worst they could do. For example, a picture of Tony Blair running with the olympic flame would be even worse.

Not if the Olympic Flame was sticking out of Blair's backside... :-)

That's pretty awful. You wonder who comes up with these things? Did you ever see Twipsy, the mascot for the Expo 2000 in Hannover? A wierd little guy with a cape and an eye mask and two mismatched hands. So bizarre.

I can't beleive they actually paid for that. it reminds me of the glass plate that shattered on my kitchen floor a few years ago.
