I must be the stupidest person alive

Ok, so I've heard all these things about how Facebook is so wonderful, so I thought I would check it out.

I don't get it. I mean, I get it, but I don't get it. What do you do with it? What makes it different from MySpace or any other virtual community? What makes it so awesome? I feel like the kid in the group who doesn't get the joke, because I really don't get it.

Maybe I'm too old to get it.

Eh, I'm not sure I get it either.

I've been playing around with it because some friends are on it, but beyond finding a few people I know.... I'm not sure what else to do with the thing.

At least MySpace does something useful for me (I use it to track various bands). Facebook.... I'm still figuring out.

Neither do I, and I'm supposedly one of "those generations" that uses this thing like drugs. My Facebook don't serve any functions apart from showing off that I am in tertiary education, and showing off friends that do come from the same Uni. It's like frat/sorority on the web. Pretty useless. Let's just stick to MySpace...more fun!

Well you know, Mel, I'm TRYING to join this thing called the modern world, so I finally gave in to the peer pressure and joined up with facebook.

I can't really comment on its "it factor" relative to myspace, but the only purpose seems to be to confuse the hell out of me. There are just WAY too many things happening there as far as I'm concerned.

My cousin "wrote on my wall" yesterday! When I saw that, I knew I'd never really "get" facebook. On the other hand, it does seem to be an okay place to trade messages and such with many different people. Of course that's only an advantage if you've never heard of email!

The scrabble app is fun, but I know what you mean. It is also a easy photo sharing thingy.

I'm with ya. I finally set up an account with Facebook a couple of weeks ago and I regret it now. I did find a friend or two, but now it's just one more damn thing to remember a password for.

I'm on (ahem...gulp) Facebook with an alias, as I'm wanting to sneak a peak at the people I went to high school and university without them being able to track me down.
Silly of me, I know...actually the whole concept behind Facebook is quite juvenile...virtual food fights and virtual schmultzy gifts from pals and a whole lotta idiocy.
Mel - do what my husband does and just boycott the whole thing.

I am so glad I am not alone in this.

And yes, MySpace is cool mainly because of the Music part - I've found so many cool and interesting Greek bands that way, and I've hooked up with old bands I used to know in college.

i dont think that its because you all are old. becuase i'm 14 and i don't get it at all. its very confusing, annoying and dumb. its always asking you to add applications to your profile, half of the time i dont know wat i'm adding. i basically juss hav one to hav one. but i prefer myspace any day over facebook.
