How dangerous the brain can be

Yesterday evening I was rushing around getting ready to go out to dinner with some of my husband's colleagues. I sent my husband on downstairs with a bag of trash while I finished gathering my things. Running around the apartment, I couldn't find my cellphone. Remembering I had brought it into the foyer when I was bringing out the trashbag, I looked for it there, but to no avail.

I proceeded downstairs and sheepishly asked my husband to dial my cellphone. Sure enough, the trash can outside our apartment building began to ring as my husband exploded with laughter, pulled out our bag of trash, and extracted the ringing phone.

I've definitely seen better days.

You just made my day. How comforting it is to know that I'm not the only one who throws out her keys, cell phone and wallet into trash cans! LOL At least Thanos has a better sense of humour about it than my husband!

Here's a strange thing:
When I'm around my best friend, who is super organised and together and on top of everything, I become the biggest spazz in the world and do all kinds of things akin to throwing cell phones in rubbish bins.
When I'm around my stepmother, who is just about the most scatterbrained person I know (in her defence she's got a constant gaggle of kids/dogs/cats/husbands, etc. constantly detracting her attention from the matters at hand) I become the super organised, on top of things, focussed one.
When I'm around my boyfriend... we both have our less focussed moments, and seem to take turns depending on the day on who is going to be muddled and who will be clear headed.
Have you guys noticed the same? I mean, are you scatterbrained all the time, or just around certain people (for example, super organised husbands?
Hmmm...

You're in good company here. I once put the coffee can in the fridge and the fresh milk in the cupboard. The kid alarm "Mooooooooooooom" went off when they got up for school and were searching for the milk...
How chivalrous of your husband to retrieve it out of the trash.

p.s.@ Zardoz Funny, you should mention country music. Check out Replete Bros., two very talented acquaintances of mine who are Greek but love country music and even got nominated for Global Artist Award two times in a row at the CMA. They make good country music for a couple of kids from Peristeri.

Well "Z" man, looks like we both like Country & Western....

By the way, have you heard that when you play a country song backwards the following happens...

The singer gets his "wife, dog, car, house etc., all BACK to him".

There's a tear in my beer....

Seawitch, of COURSE we both do such things. We are both Libras after all. My husband loves it when I do stupid stuff like that, since I am always the queen of perfection, lol.

Kassandra, actually, I've always been totally and completely together (well, aside from some inebriated moments). It has just been since I've gotten a bit older that I totally lose it. And my husband is all scatterbrained and clumsy at times, so I guess it has rubbed off on me. =p

Zardoz, I don't like modern country music (I worked in the business for a brief time, maybe a post for some other day) but I do love oldies like Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, etc. Unfortunately, I can't get any Athens radio up here.

Flubberwinkle, I haven't done anything like that...yet. But I know I will. Very cool about the Greek country music. I'll have to check it out! Have they been to Nashville?

Lol Scruffy. Good seeing you around again.

That story reminds me of the time I was at work and I thought I accidentally threw out my driver's license that had been in a drive-thru envelope from the bank. My boss even went out to the dumpster to plow through disgusting garbage and couldn't find it.

And that's because it was at the bottom of my handbag.

I found mine in the freezer once. I have no idea when I put it in there, but obviously I did.
