I was doing some online shopping today to spend some Christmas money, and decided to buy a few
DVDs. I've been wanting Blade Runner for a looooong time, and was going to add it to my purchase. Lo and behold, Blade Runner is not available in Region 2 DVD!?
What the hell...

Bladerunner is available here, I have a copy (region 2) and I'm sure I saw it in the local seven video club. If you're in Thessaloniki I'll lend it to you.
Did you see a copy for sale or for rent? We can rent it at our local video store too, but we are really wanting to buy a copy. Just seems weird that they discontinued "printing" it in region 2. We might be a region 1 copy in the meantime. Thanks for the offer of lending it, though. =)
At our stores, we order all the old movies as soon as they come out on DVD and I haven't yet seen Bladerunner in any of the order brochures from any of the major companies so far. I loved this movie too and I guarantee you, if it was out there, I'd buy 3 copies...one for each store and one for me.
If you get it on region 1 Mel, you can always copy it on your PC DVD drive so you can play it on your DVD player. Or just buy a zone free DVD player which will play all of them. If AV, Odeon or any of our other suppliers have it, I will let you know.
Thanks SeaWitch, a heads up would be very helpful. We do have a region free DVD player, kinda had to because I arrived with a whole collection of Region 1 DVDs. But we *try* to get only Region 2 now.
They need to get on the ball with rereleasing this one, it is so popular, not to mention there is a whole new generation that needs to appreciate it.
Mel -- Did you know you can buy a "region-free" dvd player? I got mine from a Japanese import store in NYC, but the site (http://www.jlist.com/DVDPLAYER) sells them over this Internet.
I can't remember where I got it but it's a Greek edition.

We already have a region free DVD player. But not from a store that also sells stuff like that!
