If I had a brain, I would be dangerous

My brother's birthday is on February 14th, and despite the fact that this is a well-known and well advertised holiday, I always forget. It is also the birthday of another good friend of mine, and as per usual, I forgot his as well (obviously, if I forget one I forget the other).

I was pretty bad about birthdays when I lived in the U.S. and it was easy to send cards out in time, here in Greece it is damn near impossible, in fact, I've pretty much given up. Still, I like to send out the email in time, at least. It just never happens.

Too bad my brother doesn't read the blog, or he'd see how bad I feel. Ah well.

Don't sweat it, you're not alone. Let's blame it on the expat thing, shall we? Can't remember the last birthday greeting I got out on time...and if I have to try to buy a stamp here, forget it. (Although I've gotten in the habit of sending things no matter how late....no I mean,, even months late, gives them another birthday, no?)

My Dad's birthday was on Valentine's Day and since I did remember, I phoned him to wish him a Happy 70th birthday. But he wasn't home. My problem is with Name Days. I never ever remember them. Not even my husband's or son's. For some reason, they just don't register in my head. My friends have gotten use to this and phone me a few days before the popular name days to ask me if I know anyone with those names so I don't embarrass myself by forgetting all the time. LOL

ZARDOZ SAYS:

HOW ABOYT USING THE MEMORY IN
MOBILE PHONE , USUALLY IN CALENDARS
MODE YOU CAN WRITE IN A BIRTHDAY
A NAME DAY AND COMMENT AND THE PHONE RINGS
1 OR 2 DAYS BEFORE WITH AWRITTEN COMMENT OF WHO HAS WHAT,
AND SAVE FACE LIKE ME .

I FORGET ALSO . AND THEN FEEL LIKE
A SMHUCK WHEN PEOPLE TELL ME THAT I
FORGOT THEM ,

HOPE THIS KINDA SUGGESTION HELPS

Zardoz, that's a fantastic idea. I have a Nokia N70 with the active desktop on it. I've programmed in everyone's information including birthdays, namedays etc and it just displays on the main screen of my cellphone on that particular day. It then means I see it in my to-do list and I do it!

Although saying that, I got a birthday card in the car I needed to send to the UK for last Thursday (9th) and haven't yet. I will sent it eventually and just blame the Greek postal service for the long delay!
