I am halfway through The Stand. If I have nightmares about the dark man one more time, I'm not going to keep reading. It is freaking me out - the book I can handle, the nightmares make it all just a bit too weird for me.

I read it 4 times in college. That is a phenomenal book. I won't say anymore...avoiding being a spoiler
I never thought that I was really affected by the nasty things I saw while working on an ambulance. Then I read a Steven King book and I have nightmares about all of the gore I have seen first hand.
However, I love Steven King (I collect his books) and can't seem to stop reading them, even if they do give me nightmares!

Read the Dark Tower series. IMO, that'll make unscary anything that Steven King wrote, especially the walking dude...
