My husband has decided to start the whole hooking up the surround sound system project. I predict that we won't have video or audio working on any of our devices by the time he is finished.

Hey, I started that last week! Its still in pretty much exactly the same status that it was 5 minutes after I started it last week...
Well, as long as he doesn't start (ie. unplug everything) and leave it that way, we're good. Otherwise, it won't be a very happy new year in this household. ;)
Consider yourself lucky that your husband is only doing it once Mel. My husband has been unplugging and plugging things in our living room for the past 8 years now. Every couple of months he "upgrades". We started out with a 21" colour TV, VCR and a DVD player. Now we have a projector, LCD 32" TV, HTPC, 2 extra TVs, 2 DVD players and 6.1 surround sound soon to be upgraded to 7.1. But I don't bug him about it because: A) I enjoy watching movies on the big screen B)He won't bug me when I want to blow money at Sephora.
Seawitch, the thing is, obviously your husband knows what he is doing, and you do get to enjoy actually watching things - I am afraid that the results will not be successful, and there will be no more watching.
