Remember Darfur

I know Katrina survivors are taking center stage right now, and rightfully so. In the wake of the mess that has been the rescue operation in New Orleans, the outrage at the length of time it took to collect survivors, we need to remember another horrible situation that has been too long without the right help - the plight of the people of Darfur.

An article in the September 5th International Edition of Time Magazine outlined the plight of the women in this region, many getting raped multiple times a day by the malicious Janjaweed forces. The conflict started in February of 2003, and the situation has not improved.

There are several sites where you can educate yourself on the plight of the Darfur region. Let's not let this issue get brushed under the carpet...these people need help now.

Sudan Watch posts regular news of Darfur as well. The fact that the world overlooks them is an atrocity all its own.

On a lighter note, I've been enjoying your perspective and look forward to more.
